Gooding, Idaho - Rosie V. Arrossa, 86, a resident of Gooding, passed away April 1, 2013, at Willowbrook Assisted Living in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Rosie was born to Juan and Atanasia Aspiasu on February 7, 1927, at Jerome, Idaho. She was the fourth of six children in her family. Rosie attended Pleasant Plains Elementary School north of Jerome until the death of her father when she had to quit school after the eighth grade.

Rosie married Pete Arrossa of Ispoure, France, on April 8, 1944 in Jerome, Idaho. The marriage was later confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Shoshone, Idaho. Pete was employed by Bill Smith, Ben Darrah, and later Joe Lete and Andy Guerricabetia in the sheep and ranching business. They eventually leased the ranch in Shoshone and later purchased a ranch and dairy in Wendell, Idaho, where they lived until Pete’s death in 1977. Shortly after Pete’s death, Rosie bought a home in Gooding, Idaho, and continued working. She was employed at Jerome Co-op Creamery and then was employed at Clear Springs Trout Company at Buhl. After retiring from Clear Springs, Rosie was employed at Gooding Elementary for fourteen years as a playground aide where she made many friends both with co-workers and students. After retiring again she continued to volunteer at Gooding Elementary.

Rosie and Pete raised their three children in Shoshone on a dairy cattle and sheep farm. Their first priority was always their family and they worked hard providing for them. They enjoyed their activities, sporting events and in later years, Rosie supported her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities, never missing an event if at all possible.

Rosie enjoyed her house, gardening, cooking (nobody ever went away hungry) and most of all her family.

Rosie was proud of her Basque heritage, enjoying the Basque dances, picnics, and card games.

Rosie was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Gooding, Idaho.

Rosie is survived by her three children: Pete Arrossa, of Jerome Idaho; Gina (Doug) Pendleton, of Pocatello, Idaho; and George (Molly) Arrossa, of Kimberly, Idaho; one sister Josephine Olander, of Heyburn, Idaho; six grandchildren, John Pendleton, Lisa Miller, Tracy Pettinger, Rich Arrossa Monty Arrossa, and Jamie Shetler. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete, and siblings John Aspiasu, Mary Lazaro, Antonia Llona, and Delores Alberdi.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Willowbrook Assisted Living, Hospice Visions for care provided, and Nancy Darling for communion.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel, with visitation beginning at 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Gooding. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm, at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gooding Basque Association, P.O. Box 517 Gooding, Idaho 83330; or a charity of your choice.
