Rupert, Idaho - Robert E. Nessen “Bob,” 81, of Rupert, died at Minidoka Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2013.
Bob was born in Lodi, Calif., on Dec. 20, 1931, to Edward W. and Esther Nessen. He graduated from Linden High School. He Married Barbara Oliver in 1950. He tried his hand at farming five acres. He also was a meat cutter/packer for several years until he was hired on as a firefighter until 1967, when the farming bug hit him again. He moved the family to Paul, Idaho, where he farmed. In his second year of farming, he almost lost his arm in a farming accident. No longer able to farm, he sold insurance for seven years, when he divorced in 1976. In 1980, He married Virginia O’Harra and remained so for the next 28 years until her untimely death in 2009.
He is survived by his three sons, Robert W. (Laurie) of Michigan, Michael (Kathy) of Oregon and Dennis (Linda) of Idaho; brothers, Fred (Diane) of Rupert and Albert and Edward of California; stepchildren, Colleen (Chris) and Christy, both of Rupert; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas.
There will be no local service at his request. Cremation is under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory in Rupert.
