Roberta Rasmussen Van Every
Rupert, Idaho – Roberta Rasmussen Van Every, 78, of Rupert, passed away 70 days after her husband from a broken heart on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Burley, Idaho.
Roberta was born on Sept. 8, 1934, in Malta, Idaho, the daughter of Knud Julius “Cude” and Eleanor Lloyd Rasmussen. She grew up in Rupert and graduated from Rupert High School in 1952. She was a wonderful mother and worked at the Amalgamated Sugar Factory in the tare lab. While working at the tare lab she loved to celebrate Halloween by dressing up.
On April 24, 1953, she married her sweetheart, Ernest Lyle Van Every, in Rupert. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Utah LDS Temple on May 3, 1979. They were blessed with nine children. Roberta loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her cows.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings. She worked in the Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society, and her favorite calling was ward librarian.
She enjoyed being outside mowing the lawn and taking care of her cows. She had a talent of making every grandchild feel special. She loved to sing and play with the children.
She is survived by her children, Crystal (Ken) Luke of Stansbury Park, Utah, David (Gloria) Van Every of Filer, Idaho, Lisa (Jim) Carter of South Jordan, Utah, Barbara (Don) Romano of Rupert, Idaho, Jason (Pam) Van Every of Heyburn, Idaho, Robert (Elizabeth) Van Every of Carey, Idaho, Beth (Dave Rettew) Van Every of Heyburn, Idaho, and Brent (Emma) Van Every of Acequia, Idaho; a brother-in-law, Bill (Anna Mae) Van Every; three sisters-in-law, Lois Rasmussen, Maxine Rasmussen, and Norma Rasmussen; 36 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Van Every; her son, Phillip “Perky” Van Every; her parents; and her siblings, Blaine J. Rasmussen, Melvin Lamar “Moon” Rasmussen, Carole Elvira Rogers, Robert Rasmussen (her twin), and Lloyd “Schooney” Rasmussen.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Rupert LDS Stake Center, 324 E. 18th St., with Bishop Kelly Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Rupert Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
