Twin Falls, Idaho - William “Bill” Arthur VanDyke, 85, of Twin Falls, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at River Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Bill was born March 11, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 29, 1946, and served for two years. He was a rifle expert. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Area from Feb. 10, 1947, to April 29, 1947. After the service, he joined the Idaho State Police in 1956, serving for 27 years until his retirement in 1983. On March 10, 1965, he married Wanda Jean Burgoyne of Shoshone, Idaho. They were married for 48 years. Bill and Jean enjoyed riding their big 1200 Harley Davidson through 43 states and five provinces in Canada. Bill and Jean enjoyed going to the Boise Steelhead Hockey games and watching Boise State Bronco football games.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean; his daughter, Mitzi Irene Cover of Gahanna, Ohio, and her husband, Kenneth Cover; a son, William Roger VanDyke of Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren, Kenny, Bob and Yvonne; and four great-grandsons, Alex, LJ, Jeffrey, Ashley and Andy. He is also survived by Wanda Jean’s four sons, Warren, Vick, Mike and Dave Burgoyne who called him “Dad.” He was preceded in death by his parents; and one great-grandson, Nickolos.
Cremation was under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no service. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Sunset Memorial Park.
