Shoshone, Idaho – Charlene Mooney Irish, 63, of Shoshone, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
A beautiful, caring, Christian woman we were proud to call mom, grandma and friend was taken away from us much too soon.
Char was born July 21, 1949, in Orlando, Florida, the daughter of Lt. Col Charles M. and Lucile Mooney. She was an active tennis player at Lakes High School in Lakewood, WA, where she graduated in 1967. After high school, she attended college at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, WA. Her love for snow skiing and the great outdoors led her to Steamboat, CO, where she met her husband of 18 years, Greg Greenfield. They later moved to Dietrich, ID in 1972, where they were blessed with three sons, Cole in 1974, Seth in 1975 and Jade in 1981. Char worked for the Dietrich School District in food service and bus driving for many years. She loved spending time outdoors horseback riding, snow skiing, swimming and spending time with her family. She had a kind heart and always tried to help everyone as best she could.
In 1993, Char married Tom Irish and they had made their home in Dietrich and then later on the outskirts of Shoshone, Idaho. She took great pride in her home and spent many hours gardening, cooking, homemaking and horseback riding. She loved her horses and greatly enjoyed riding and caring for them. Char and Tom were blessed with many grandchildren whom she loved dearly and held very close to her heart.
Char is survived by her husband of 20 years, Tom Irish; her sons, Cole (Abby) Greenfield of Twin Falls, Seth (Laura) Greenfield of Linden, WA and Jade (Trisha) Greenfield of Glendale, CA. Also, Rocky (Michelle) Irish of Parma, ID, Ron (Crystal ) Irish of Bonney Lake, WA, and Justin (Nikki ) Irish of Federal Way, WA. Her sisters, Gina (Ted) Lyons of Chandler, AZ and Alane (Jim) Papas of Tacoma, WA. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Char will be greatly missed by all of her family, whom she truly lived for and loved.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the home of Cole and Abby Greenfield, on Sunday, July 21, 2013 – that would have been her 64th birthday. It will be an Open House from noon to 5:00. Call Cole at 208-308-7040 for more info. Friends and family, please come to reminisce and remember a wonderful woman!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, ID 83705. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
