Joey Faye Bryant
Heyburn, Idaho – Joey Faye Bryant, 61, of Heyburn, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley from a sudden illness.
Joey was born on July 14, 1952, in Burley, Idaho, the daughter of John Wesley and Joyce Faye Tolman Reynolds. She received her education in Minidoka County and graduated from Minico High school in 1970. She then completed her college studies at the College of Southern Idaho. She married James Rex Bryant on Dec. 21, 1970, in Burley, and together they raised two children, Bj and Lacie.
She was an active member of the Mini-Cassia community and spent countless hours serving in different organizations. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and was the local representative for the American Red Cross for many years. She worked at the Cassia County Sheriff’s Department, the Times-News, was a photographer and freelance reporter for The Voice, taught swimming lessons and was the water safety instructor at the Impact Athletic Club in Burley, was a Mary Kay representative, worked at the College of Southern Idaho in Burley, and worked in the family business known as the Reynolds Roller King in Heyburn.
Joey was an advocate of higher education and instilled and encouraged the youth of our community to be a high school graduate and to pursue a college degree. She was often heard saying, “Pursue your dreams. . .make them come true.”
She enjoyed photography, cooking, reading, going on 4-wheeler rides to take pictures, and keeping up on current events. However, most important to Joey was family. She was a loving daughter and sister, a dedicated wife, an unbelievable mother, and simply adored her grandchildren.
She was also a member of the Burley First Christian Church.
Joey is survived by her husband, James Rex “Jim” Bryant of Heyburn; her children, Bj Bryant (Shelbie) of Challis, Idaho, and Lacie Bryant Asher (Russell) of Burley; five grandchildren, RaNai Cottom (Colton), Danica, Karsten and Keegan Asher, Emily Bryant, and one on the way, affectionately called “Bubble Gum”; and her two brothers, Kelly Reynolds (Cookie) of Kingston, Ariz., and Roger Reynolds (Julie) of Heyburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Faye Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with the Rev. John Marshall officiating.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be directed to the Joey Bryant Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of any D.L. Evans Bank.
