Jerome, Idaho - Carmen Iris Steele, 74, our beloved mother, was born on February 23, 1939 to Juan and Juana Sanchez in Juncos, Puerto Rico. She passed away Friday September 13, 2013 in Gooding Idaho.

She moved to Utah in 1948 with her family: siblings Johnny Corcino, Mary Salcedo (deceased), Frank Sanchez, and Georgi Sanchez. She married and later divorced Miguel Rios (deceased).

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Steele, whom she adored, and made their home in Hagerman, Idaho. They were married for 26 years until his death in 2007. She was blessed with six children: Joey Sanchez, Donna (Jan) Foust, Dianna (Tim) Burbidge, David (Sidney) Rios, Michelle Rios, and Carmen Rios. She spent the last four years with her beloved companion Jim Waugh.

She had 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She worked as a CNA at St. Benedict’s for over twenty years, until she retired. She was full of life and enjoyed helping others and she will be dearly missed by many.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel, 737 Main Street in Gooding Idaho. A graveside service will follow at the Hagerman Cemetery, 968 Cemetery Road, Hagerman Idaho. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Hagerman Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. in Hagerman, 270 E. Salmon St.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.

Carmen will be greatly missed. She was always so full of life and happy. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this tough time.
