Age: 89 years old
Rupert, Idaho - A loving mom, grandma and sister left this world to reunite with her husband, Glenn, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, in Twin Falls. She was 89.
Donna Lavern Fenton was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Rupert, Idaho, to Joseph LeRoy and Ruth Hazel Miller Fenton. She was the fourth child of nine. She was raised in Rupert and, at the age of 14, she met the love of her life, Glenn Walker. They were married on May 31, 1942. They lived in Boise, Idaho Falls and Rupert in the early years and had two daughters. In 1948, while very pregnant, Donna and Glenn moved their family to southern California. While there, two more daughters were born. In 1961, they moved north to Dublin, Calif.; 1968 brought a move back to family and friends in Idaho.
After her move back to Rupert, Donna chose to accomplish the goal of becoming a cosmetologist and used her talents at Betty’s Hair Salon in Rupert. She loved the company of her friends and family as she cut and styled their hair through the years. Donna’s talents were many but her greatest enjoyments were her garden, crocheting, cooking and quilting. She passed her love of these activities on to her girls and grandchildren. Her legacy will continue, and Grandma’s raspberry patch will always be remembered. Donna’s deep and abiding faith in God sustained her through these last difficult years. She always loved her church family at Paul Baptist Church. A special thanks to Heritage Memory Care and Horizon Home Health and Hospice.
Donna is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Yadon of Washougal, Wash., Sherrill (Roy) Hamilton of Pleasanton, Calif., Glenda Marcene (John) Cline of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dona (Alan) Aston of Twin Falls, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Ila Mayes Rose, James (Dona Rose) Fenton, Richard (Virginia) Fenton, Virgil (Bonnie) Fenton and Gary (Myrna) Fenton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
We will always miss you, Mama, bu.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Hansen Mortuary, 710 Sixth St. in Rupert. Viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Services will conclude with burial in the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
