Burley, Idaho - Gary Robbins Bench, 45, of Burley, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden, Utah, from a massive stroke.

Gary was born on Dec. 4, 1967, in Burley, Idaho, the youngest of ten children born to Norman Thomas and Bobbie Lee Robbins Bench. He attended Dworshak Elementary, Burley Jr. High and completed his education at the Burley High School. He was always upbeat, friendly, and fun to be around. Gary was an accomplished musician and enjoyed singing and song writing. For the past 16 years, he served as the coordinator of the Cassia County Fair free stage event and brought in performers from the Intermountain area. He worked at the family business, Nuts and Things, as its manager for the past six years. Gary will fondly be remembered as the man who always had a story to tell. He was a member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his parents, Norman and Bobbie Bench of Burley; his siblings, Michael R. (Sheree) Bench of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Dorian R. (Melissa) Bench of Jerome, Zena Rae Bench of Burley, Jule Ann Bench of Provo, Utah, Galen R. (Yenny) Bench of Indonesia, Janiece (Rio) Hirai of Mattawa, Wash., Adrian R. (Sheila) Bench of Nampa, Jay R. (Merijane) Bench of Burley, and Lee R. (Patty Jo) Bench of Shoshone; 32 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who truly loved Gary.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Pella LDS Church, 160 W. 400 S., of Burley, with Bishop Lyle D. Sager officiating. Burial will be in the Pella Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

Gary, my friend, I will miss you. Thanks for all the great times in Home Economics class & laughs in high school. Your great friendship throughout the years and beautiful smile will be missed. My condolences to the Bench family.

I've known Gary since he first opened nuts and things. I will greatly miss Gary he was like a father to me
