Richfield, Idaho - William Grant Stevens, 88, of Richfield, passed away Friday November 8, 2013 at the Veterans Home in Boise, Idaho. He was born August 26, 1925 in Richfield, the son of Walter and Mary Grace Crowther Stevens. When Grant was very young, his mother passed away. His father later married Cora Sweat and they raised their children together. Grant served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Following an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Idaho, where he spent the rest of his working years farming and driving truck. His grandchildren will remember him for his great cooking abilities. He also enjoyed playing Bingo while he resided at the Veterans Home.
Grant is survived by his wife, JoAnne Stevens of Richfield; his children, Carlene (Larry) Green and Della Stevens; his stepchildren, Randy (Carolyn) Jones, Tammy (Dave) Naber and Jamie Stirton; sisters, Lucille and Faye; stepsister, Ruth; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Donny and Bill; and his great-grandson, Bailey.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday November 16, 2013, at the Richfield LDS Church, Hwy 93, Richfield, Idaho. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 AM, in the Richfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
