Jerome, Idaho - Larry Carl Fredrickson, 72, of Jerome, passed away Tuesday January 7, 2014, at his home. He was born May 2, 1941, in Roseburg, Oregon, the son of Walt and Evelyn Fredrickson. Larry was raised in Roseburg and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1958. He served his country in the US Coast Guard from 1959 to 1963. Following an Honorable Discharge, he attended Oregon Technical Institute and graduated as a diesel mechanic. He married Mary Goodell in 1972 and they made their home in Lowell, Oregon where they raised four children. Larry spent the next 34 years working as a diesel mechanic and supervisor for Pap'e Caterpillar. He could fix anything and was a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge regarding heavy equipment and welding. During this time he also owned a Dairy Queen restaurant. In 1999, he and Mary settled in Jerome, Idaho where they started L&M Enterprises. Larry retired in 2008. Larry had a passion for racing hydroplane boats and racing cars. He was a member of RFC (Racers for Christ) and served as a Chaplain. He also enjoyed raising Galloway Cattle, running marathons, hunting mule deer and fly fishing. His happiest times centered around sharing the message of Jesus. He loved the Lord and wished to share that with others. Larry loved and took care of his family. He went out of his way to help whenever and under whatever circumstances. He enjoyed visiting and making others feel comfortable.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Fredrickson of Jerome; three children, Allen (Michele) Fredrickson, Frank Spellmeyer and Shawna (Martin) Maher. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandson and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Tracy.
A Celebration of Larry's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday January 11, 2014, at the Calvary Chapel of Buhl, 1004 Burley Avenue, Buhl, Idaho, with Pastor Jackie Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
