of Twin Falls, Idaho
Born: December 26, 1935 in Twin Falls, Idaho
Died: May 2, 2014 in Twin Falls, Idaho
Age: 78 years old
Twin Falls, Idaho - Jack Teater was born in Twin Falls and grew up in Eden and Kimberly, Idaho. He was the second child of Willard and Lilah Arlene Teater. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Kurt Teater, and older sister, Peggy Curry. His surviving sister, Karen Baptie, lives in Nampa, Idaho. He is also survived by his loving wife, Sandra Teater of Kimberly, six children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Jack lived the majority of his life in Kimberly and had many friends there. He spent a year at the University of Idaho and he always said he received his master’s degree from the University of Hard Knocks. He had a great sense of humor and was not one to let the facts get in the way of a good story. He tried his hand and many enterprises and was a “Jack” of all trades and a master at some. He had a very adventurous life starting when he was driving a crossley at 12 years of age.
A few of the enterprises he operated included multiple bars including the Log Tavern and Jan’s Lounge in Twin Falls and the Rainbow in Kimberly. He operated the Canyon Country club and golf course across the river from Shoshone Falls. He put on a three-day rock festival in Bellevue, Idaho, in 1969. He farmed potatoes, worked as a lifeguard, installed irrigation systems, did brick work, roofed, dealer, drilled wells, did inventory control, owned and operated “Honest John’s” car lot, rented apartments, sold desert entries, sold boats and sold insurance. He was the Idaho State Water Ski Champion two years in a row in the ‘50s. He was a sponsor to many and hauled hundreds of people to recovery meetings. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Twin Falls Fellowship Hall.
