ERMA E. KOONCE, LEEPER, CARRICO
GOODING: Our beloved Mother and friend passed away peacefully March 16. 2010 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center
Erma Estella Koonce, Leeper, Carrico was born July 4, 1911 in Soldier, Camas, Idaho to Curtis L. and Blanche E. Finch Koonce. She attended school in Fairfield and Boise, Idaho and resided in Gooding, Idaho all of her adult life. She worked for the City of Gooding as the City Librarian retiring in 1976. Erma married Lillard R. Leeper February 1, 1930 in Shoshone, Idaho. They had five children: Clarel E. (Cole) Brandenberger, Columbus, Indiana daughter, Rodney L. (Donna) Leeper, Portland, Oregon, son, Frank , son,now deceased, Rollie. R. (Zibby) Leeper, Idaho Falls, Idaho, son and Larry K.(Linda) Leeper, Salt Lake City, Utah, son. Her first husband “Pill”died December 5, 1954 and she later married Otto Carrico, on November 8, 1959. Surviving her are two step-daughters, Ruth Spencer of Gooding and Georgia Vasco of Sacramento, Calif. Otto passed away April 17, 1984 in Gooding, Idaho.
Erma enjoyed life to the very end and we will miss her dearly. At 98 she still played Bridge, some pinochle and was active in the United Methodist Church. She was a Past Grand Noble of the Rebekah Lodge and was always anxious to have friends and especially family visit. Her home was open and warm to visitors and cookies were usually in the oven.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Luther E., Leonard P. and Curtis (Woody) Koonce. Stepdaughter Mary Onieda and infant son Frank. She is survived by her four children, two stepdaughters, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Gooding United Methodist Church, 805 Main Street, Gooding. Burial will follow at the Gooding Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing one hour before services. Friends and family may call and view Mrs. Carrico at the Demaray Funeral Home 737 Main Street, Gooding on Sunday March 21st, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
