Funeral Home & Crematory
White Mortuary was established early in 1924 when Ella M. White, who had been working for Glen Blue of Blue and Company Mortuary, bought his share of the business. In 1928, Ella White changed the name to White Mortuary. The business was located in a storefront building on Shoshone St. White operated the mortuary alone until 1937, when her daughter Frances moved back to Twin Falls from California with her husband of two years, Hugh U. Phillips.Hugh worked for Ella, and in 1939 they constructed a new building at 136 Fourth Ave. East, across the street from the Twin Falls City Park. The building was completed in 1939 and became known as White Mortuary "The Chapel by the Park." Hugh and Frances took over ownership at this time.
Ella White passed away in 1968. Hugh and Frances Phillips operated the business until 1980; upon their retirement they sold the business to Jerry D. Holman and Ronald J. Hamilton.
In 1996 we joined the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
In 1925 the leading cause of death was pneumonia or heart trouble. Until 1967 the ambulance service in Twin Falls was operated by the funeral home, and in those days few ambulance bills exceeded $5. Although these things have changed, we at White Mortuary are proud to remain a vital part of the Magic Valley. Today, we have a dedicated staff to service all your funeral, cremation and preplanning needs. Our funeral directors are Dustin Godfrey, Ross Andersen, and Trent Stimpson. As well as our Office Manager, Jamie Jacobsen and a number of part-time staff that live and work right here in the Magic Valley.
We are proud to be part of the Dignity Memorial® national network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. We are committed to exceeding expectations and delivering a standard of service that is 100 percent guaranteed. At White Mortuary it is our desire to never lose sight of our heritage, nor to lose the quality to service associated with that heritage. Ship-in and Ship-out. We accept most third-party pre-paid funeral plans.
Frequently Asked Questions
- I have a pre planned funeral at another funeral home either in another state or right here in Twin Falls, can I change it to a different funeral home?
- Absolutely, You are in total control of that pre planned funeral. You have the right to go where ever you wish to go. If you more questions or concerns we are here to help you in any way please fee l free to give us a call
- I am on a limited budget can I pre-pay for my funeral services?
- Yes you can, we would like to sit down with you and your family to discuss your desires, wishes and then talk about your options to pre-pay for your services. There are different pay over the year models to go through to help find the best one for you.
- I wish to have a few things “Different” at my funeral or Celebration of Life service, are there specific guidelines to go by or am I able to choose the things I wish to take place?
- That is the beauty of pre-planning; you can do things as different as you are to other people. Funerals or Celebration of Life services are very unique, they represent you and therefore you should do what you want and desire. Another resource is to talk it over with family members to make sure your wishes are carried out; they will be the ones to make sure it goes Your way. We are there to make it “Your” service and help you in any way. Please call if you have any questions or concerns.
- I once saw a slide show at a funeral that depicted the life that was lived, what is needed to have one of those done for my service?
- We build and burn DVD’s for those families that wish to have the slideshow shown at the viewing or at the funeral service or both. The families bring in between 30-60 pictures of their loved one and we scan them and put it to either their music or to a light background music to show. This makes a great tribute for family members and friends. Our DVD Tributes are included in all of our funeral and cremation service plans and can also be purchased alacarte. If you have more questions please feel free to give us a call anytime.
- Are the prices for funerals the same between every funeral home?
- No, they are not exactly the same price for all funeral homes. We try hard to keep our prices within the same range as everyone else to keep the prices most reasonable for the public. Prices of funerals and Celebration of Life services are very competitive and relatively the same, you need to make sure that all prices include the same services, meaning bottom line figures. Prices are as unique as that person, and there are instances that prices needs to be considered to be discounted to family matters and circumstances, we are there to help in any way we can.
