Magic Valley Speedway Fires Up

By Ryan Larrondo

05-10-2008
With the weather warming up, the action out at Magic Valley Speedway is also getting hot. So is the hunt for points in the Pepsi Premier Series, as drivers are taking it serious, even in the opening heat races.
In heat one, the green flag dropped with Jerry McKean on the pole and Sam Harris Jr. in second. Harris was passed up in the first lap by Scott Gilligan. Gilligan held his second position until the final lap, when he made his move on the inside. The manoeuver put Gilligan in first to take the win. McKean, a bit upset by the move, gave Gilligan a tap on the rear bumper following the finish line.
In heat two it was Louis Lopez on the pole. Some flames came from his back fire, but Lopez was able to hold onto the top spot, beating out a last second push by John Newhouse, to get the checkered flag.
