The Twin Falls Cowboys weren't as successful as they could have been in their host Cowboy Classic Tournament. The Cowboys never really played consistent lights out baseball in this weekend's tournament, losing in their pool opener to a tough Boise Gems squad.
The 'Boys saw a similar fate in today's semifinal matchup with the Eagle (ID) Vipers. The Vipers took an early 1-0 lead, then added to it in the fourth and fifth innings, when they erupted for six more runs, three in each outing, to take a 7-0 lead.
The Cowboys' output in the fifth garnered two runs on a walk, an error, a groundout and an infield single, before a final groundout ended their only offensive strike of the game.
The Vipers would hold on defense, to earn a spot in the final, 7-2.
Eagle would fall in the title game to the Triple Play (WA) Hornets, a Connie Mac squad out of Seattle, 8-1. The same Hornet team that the Cowboys beat 5-4 in the exhibition opener on Wednesday night.
Twin Falls travels to Seattle for a tournament starting on Wednesday evening.
