State Tournament Legion A
Buhl 7 vs Mtn Home 3
The Tribe used a big fourth inning run to put six runs on the board and pull ahead of Mountain Home in the Legion A state tournament opener in Boise. Buhl was led by Jack Hamilton from the plate and Gaige Owen from the mound. Owen pitched seven innings, giving up only three runs in the complete game. Hamilton had three hits and knocked in three RBI to lead the Tribe to their opener victory. Buhl will face the winner of the Upper Valley-Lewis Clark matchup in tomorrow's semifinal.
State Tournament Legion AA
Twin Falls 4 vs Centennial 10
Twin Falls put up a fight early in their opener in Pocatello against the Centennial Cannons. But, the Cowboys gave up seven runs in the seventh inning to fall in their opener, 10-4. The loss drops the 'Pokes into the loser's bracket right out of the gate.
Jerome 6 vs Coeur d'Alene 12
It was all Idaho State Champions in the Jerome-Coeur d'Alene matchup. The Lumbermen took full advantage of the Cyclones' youth and inexperience tallying the majority of their runs in the early innings, including a three-run bases clearing double. The Cyclones put up a fight late, but it wouldn't be enough as the Lumbermen earned a 12-6 victory in their opening round matchup.
The State Legion Tournaments continue through Monday's championship games in Boise and Pocatello.
