CSI Hosts Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo

By Jeremy Wayne

10-9-2008

The first annual Rocky Mountain Regional took center stage on Thursday night at the Eldon Evans Expo Center and the host Golden Eagles came out of the chutes on fire.

The men's team is ranked fifth in the nation and first in the region, and for good reason. After the first two rounds in saddle bronc, three Eagles sat in the top three spots. Filer's Bailey Tubbs and teammate Jesse Wright both held on for eight second rides and grabbed 77 points for their efforts. CSI's Monty Johnson sat third with 73 points. In steer wrestling, Eagle Gary Kuhn bulldogged his way to the number two spot with a 5.9 second takedown. In calf roping, the Eagles battled as well. Aaron Skinner sat in second at 10.9 seconds, while teammate Trevor Ervin sat fourth at 12.3 seconds.

The Rocky Mountain Regional was a one-head go-around, wrapping tonight, and crowning winners in all events. But the three-day rodeo event will continue with the first annual CSI Fall Classic on Friday night at 8 p.m. and conclude Saturday night starting at 8 p.m.
