The Jerome Cyclones batted out a 7-1 game one win and a 3-1 game two win over the visiting Minico Spartans on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cyclones took the early lead in the opener, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Spartans cut the lead with one of their own in the second, but the Cyclones would respond with another in the third. They would add four more while holding the Spartans scoreless for the 7-1 victory.
At Bill Ingram Field, the Twin Falls Cowboys opened their Pepsi Classic Wood Bat Invitational against the Triplay Play Hornets of Seattle. The 'Pokes wasted no time, putting up eight runs through the second, third and fourth innings for an 8-0 lead. The Hornets would respond with four runs in the fifth and sixth. But Twin Falls' Cy Sneed came in to close out the seventh, and struck out one, grounded out another, then pop flew the third to end the game.
