MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) _ Sports fans at the University of Idaho are
applauding recent renovations to the Kibbie Dome.

Coeur d'Alene resident Bob Haynes says he has been attending
Vandal football games on the Moscow campus since 1953 and he
noticed a big difference while watching the University of Idaho
play San Diego State University on Saturday.

The west wall of the dome has been partially replaced by
translucent, fiberglass panels that let in more light.

Haynes says the atmosphere of the Kibbie has greatly improved.

The state Board of Education in December approved the
university's plan to borrow $10 million to make safety improvements
to the facility this year.

The school is using the money to improve some exits so more
people can get out of the dome faster. The money is also being used
to replace two wooden end walls with noncombustible materials.
