It was a tough task that lay between the Kimberly volleyball team and a South Central Idaho Conference championship. After falling to Filer Tuesday in the semi-finals, the Lady Bulldogs would have to come out of the one-loss bracket, beat Buhl, and then beat Filer in back-to-back matches to take the crown. That is exactly what Kimberly did on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs jumped all over Buhl in their first match, beating the Indians 3-1. Immediately following the win, the Bulldogs found themselves down a set to Filer. Kimberly was able to rally, though, and reeled off three straight set wins to force a second championship match. Game 2 resembled the first match, as the Wildcats edged out Kimberly, 26-24, to go up a set. But again, the Bulldogs rallied to win three sets in a row, bringing the 3A SCIC championship back to Kimberly.
The conference title insures a trip to next week's state playoffs for Kimberly, while Filer will have to win a play-in game on Saturday.
