On the prep grid iron, a handful of Magic Valley football teams were scrambling for wins Friday night to punch their tickets to the playoffs.
In the 4A Great Basin Conference, the Minico Spartans needed a win over rival Twin Falls to assure that they would be in the post season. The Spartans used two first half touchdowns and a solid defensive effort to get the job done, 14-12 over the Bruins. Canyon Ridge was also looking to force a shot at the playoffs, but the Riverhawks saw their playoff hopes die, as they fell to Wood River, 9-8.
