The following is a release from Boise State Sports Information.

Rivalry Renewed...

The Boise State men's basketball team may have struggled a bit to start conference play, the Broncos turned things around after a buzzer-beater by Anthony Thomas sent them into overtime where they beat out Idaho, 77-67. That last second shot not only led the Broncos to their first WAC win of the season, but washed out the bitter taste that was left from last season's series sweep by the Vandals.

Prior to last season, Boise State had dominated the series against the in-state rival, posting 14 consecutive wins over Idaho. Despite the Vandals 14-game skid to the Broncos, the rivalry between the two schools remained and has never meant as much as it does this season as the two are battling it out in conference play to guarantee a spot in the WAC Tournament.

A win over the Vandals Saturday night could give the Broncos the edge they need to book their tickets to the conference tournament. However, one thing is certain: there is no such thing as an easy win when Boise State and Idaho meet up. In the last three meetings, the game has come down to the final minute of play, including the last game that went into overtime.

Last season's game at Taco Bell Arena was won by a last second lay-up by Idaho, while this season's game was pushed into overtime by Thomas' 3-point buzzer-beater. So who will hit the game winner this Saturday? Don't miss out on the action, B There to witness the rivalry and cheer the Broncos on to a series sweep over the Vandals.

This Week...

After struggling during the first half of conference play the Boise State men’s basketball team turned things around when they recorded their first WAC win at in-state rival, Idaho. The Broncos are currently on a two-game winning steak and look to continue moving their way up the charts and sweep the season series against the Vandals when they host Idaho, Saturday, Feb. 6 at Taco Bell Arena, with tip-off scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

In the first match-up of the season between these two schools, Boise State trailed most of the game, but a last second three-point shot by Anthony Thomas sent the game into overtime, where the Broncos beat out the Vandals, 77-67. The two have not split a season series since the 2000-01 season.
