The College of Southern Idaho Lady Golden Eagles took it to the wire in game one of their doubleheader with North Idaho on Friday afternoon, before earning the sweep in day one of their home weekend.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the early innings of game one, only to have the Cardinal respond with a home run in the sixth. NIC would threaten with more runners in the seventh, but Generra Nielson would lock it down from the mound, keeping the Cardinals in check. The Eagles would answer in the bottom of the seventh, placing runners on first and second with back-to-back bunts. Designated hitter Kayla Powell would line a shot to deep right, scoring MeChel Hunt for the 2-1 CSI victory.

In game two, the Cardinals opened with a three-run first, but the Eagles would respond, putting up seven runs over the next five innings on the way to a 7-3 game two win.

The Eagles and Cardinals are back in action Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
