The College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles baseball team opens Scenic West play on Friday at Skip Walker Field in Twin Falls. The Eagles will host the College of Southern Nevada for twin doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
The Eagles and Coyotes have a storied history. In 2009, the Coyotes won the regular season series 6-2. But, the Eagles won their tournament meeting, forcing CSN to win out of the loser's bracket. The 'Yotes were eliminated from the conference tournament in the next game by Salt Lake Community College.
This season, the Coyotes bolstered their roster, signing the MLB's probable top prospect, Bryce Harper. Harper has been touted by Sports Illustrated as "baseball's Lebron James," and has been dubbed the next baseball prodigy by countless other sports media outlets in the country. He has lived up to the hype thus far. Harper has 4 home runs and 18 RBI through 16 games. He is fifth on his team in batting average (.356), but has an astounding slugging percentage (.712).
The Eagles and Coyotes renew their rivalry on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Skip Walker Field.
