Both Twin Falls high schools opened their spring baseball and softball seasons on Friday, making for a busier than normal weekday throughout the city.
Both Twin Falls schools hosted teams from the eastern edge of the state. The Twin Falls Bruins hosted Hillcrest and Highland, in baseball and softball, respectively, while the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks hosted Pocatello and Century.
In softball, the Riverhawks handled the Century Diamondbacks, sweeping the doubleheader, 6-2, 3-2. The Bruins fell in their opener to the Highland Rams, 8-3. Twin would earn the split on the day, winning the nightcap, 7-2. The Lady Bruins open Saturday's doubleheader at 11 a.m.
In baseball, the Bruins battled to an 8-7 victory over the Hillcrest Knights to open their season. Game two was called due to darkness in Twin Falls. The Bruins are back in action on Saturday at noon. The Riverhawks didn't fare as well. Canyon Ridge fell in their opener to Pocatello, 30-1.
