CSI volleyball starts quest for 11th title
Twin Falls, ID ( KMVT - TV / KTWT - TV ) The quest for an eleventh national title started Thursday as the CSI volleyball team kicked off its season with the first day of practice.
After losing 10 players from last year's championship squad to the Division I level, it's a whole new look—and feel—for the Golden Eagles.
The team has only three returning players and of that trio, only one, Braiden Johnston, saw significant playing time last season.
Even though it's the most rebuilding that head coach Heidi Cartisser said she's ever faced during her time at CSI, she's confident that the thirteen new faces will step up and have an immediate impact.
"After seeing the first practice that we had today, I'm not nervous,” she said.
“ I think our ball control is even better than what I thought it was going to be coming in, so they're meeting that expectation already.”
“It's just learning the system,” she said, “and as soon as they completely buy into what we're doing—and they're very willing—it's just learning it right now."
The Golden Eagles start their season on August 23rd as they host the Buffalo Wild Wings tournament. They will take on Central Wyoming College to open play.
