Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) You couldn't talk about the success of Twin Falls softball this year, without mentioning this player's name. Rainey Dyreson led the team to the 4A state title by pitching one gem after another. Let's meet our Softball Athlete of the Season.

Dyreson says, "my highest point of the season was when we won state and the girl struck out on my very last pitch as a high school athlete. That was cool."

Senior Rainey Dyreson, a threatening presence on the mound, boasting a 1.3 ERA and 156 strikeouts.

"I feel they're afraid of my speed...I look to see what they're at, look to see where they're holding the bat, look in their eyes to see if they're scared," adds the Oregon State University signee.

And at the plate, her .440 average included 7 home runs and 37 RBI.
Dyreson might be the complete package.

"She's a serious competitor, she's always working hard, has a lot of fun out there, she's determined, she wants to get better every day in practice, she wants to compete and win every at bat she has, that she's faced with," says Coach Jessica Pistole.

Pistole had the privilege of coaching Dyreson this season and through the state tournament.

Pistole adds, "she gave up one hit on championship day. She threw an excellent game the night before against Kuna, she threw a few innings in the Skyview game as well and then she produced at the plate, I think she hit .500 in the state tournament, major contributor."

Dyreson lives and breathese softball. For her, dedication to the sport isn't evident of a four–month commitment.

"I play 11 months of the year. I love the game so much that every single game is a blessing of the fact I get to be out there, I love every single game, every challenge it brings and its great being on the field every day," exclaims Dyreson.

Congratulations Rainey Dyreson, the 2014 Softball Athlete of the Season.
