Take A Swing At Trail Creek Golf Course

Sun Valley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) When you think of summer, you might think of words that begin with G...grilling and golf.

We are focusing on the latter as our series Signature Holes gets a makeover. Here's our first installment of On the Course.

"I think one of the best holes at Trail Creek is number 7. It's 460 yard, par 4 from the championship tees. It's an elevated tee that overlooks Trail Creek, kind of sets up to the left, but there's more fairway to the right, you're over the top of all the Aspen trees. Typically beautiful in the fall when they're yellow, but challenging anytime of year obviously," explains Tyler Jones, Director of Golf Operations, Sun Valley.

Jones adds, "the most challenging aspects of the hole, one finding the fairway, the tee sets you up to the left, which is where the creek runs down through the hole, but the fairway really is to the right. The green being three clubs deep, meaning depending on where the hole location is and when it gets to the back, your approach shot can go from 150 to 180 yards for your second shot. So for me, that goes from a 9 iron down to a 7 iron for sure, so definitely presents a challenge, depending on the hole location, definitely a challenging par four and one of the most beautiful holes out here for sure."

"Other great aspects of sun valley resort golf facility is the Trail Creek 18 holes, and the White Clouds 9 holes, we also have an 18–hole putting course. It's a 50,000 sq ft putting course, it's very popular with our group outings. The Sun Valley Clubhouse desk which overlooks the Sawtooth Putting Course and Practice Facility is a great place to enjoy a beverage or meal after your round. It looks at Mt. Baldy in the sun, it's a beautiful place to spend your pre–golf experience."
