Safe House Progress

By S Casey

A Twin Falls shelter for boys is making great progress in construction and hopes to be open this summer. For about three months volunteers have been ripping out walls, floors and siding to get the house ready by June 1st. Nicki Cluff, project manager, says "Everything is going to get re–sheet rocked and insulated. the windows are getting up dated. South Central Community Action Group is helping us out with that they’re donating all the windows and going to install them." The house will free up the current co–ed safe house that accommodates just 12 people. Once it’s finished, it will only house boys and the current facility will be just for girls.
several of the residence are actually helping out on the project. Nicki Hill, case manager for the Safe House, says "for me and actually a lot of the kids its really fulfilling for them to be able to come out and actually give back to the program." The Twin Falls County Commissioners were able to help pay for parts of the project through a grant. The rest is coming from generous business owners in the Magic Valley.
