New Addition

By S Casey

Rupert’s Demary Library had its doors open this afternoon for a special event.
Sharon Kimber says, “We are having an open house in celebration of the building being here on this spot for fifty years. The building was built fifty years ago.”
To celebrate that fifty years, part of the building got a dress up. Those dreams include some big plans.
Kimber says. “Our dreams for this library includes automation, and then we would like to expand the library out to the south. Right now we have about four thousand square feet and we would like to expand that to include about six thousand feet.”
The expansion would go towards the existing Masonic lodge, and would give more room for computers and books.
Kimber says, “We had bob veldt come in and he helped us decorate it. and we picked out the bulk paint and Rob Newman came in and he painted it for us, and we've just re-arranged some of the artwork and made it a more peaceful, restful room for people to enjoy in here.”
The event caps off numerous years of support for reading in the city.
Kimber says, “While the building has been here for fifty years, we've had library service for one hundred years at the library.”
