Church Opens It's Doors After 8 Months

By S Casey

With tomorrow being Easter, it could not be better timing for the first United Methodist church to re-open the sanctuary.
Since last august, the congregation has been meeting in the fellowship hall for services.
Often times, the room would be cramped full of people but, overall - there is a sigh of relief that the sanctuary is ready for the congregation again.
Eleanore Burkhart says, "It means a great deal. We were doing alright in the fellowship room but to have this beautiful sanctuary open again, what a beautiful thing on Easter Sunday."
The estimate of the cost of renovations is one hundred and twenty thousand dollars as some work still needs to be done to the roof.
The board of trustees wanted to close the sanctuary for fear that someone in the congregation might be injured.
Greg Gessler says, "There were different spots in the ceiling that were falling off and what it really was the old plaster that was put on when the building was originally built in 1916."
With the addition of the banners and the fresh scent of the Easter lilies - tomorrow's service should bring home to the congregation the feeling of Easter.
Dale Stewart says, "Easter is a new time of new beginnings and a time of in this case reopening the sanctuary and hopefully get everybody feeling better about some of the disruptions."
