A month and a half after the earthquake, the town of Wells, Nevada is putting itself back together.
It means getting back to a sense of normalcy.
Ever since the 6.0 tremor back in February, the area has been riddled with aftershocks, including Tuesday’s four-point-two.
Elaine Mahoney says, “Jumpy! Very jumpy, very jumpy. a lot of people are jumpy.”
Hank James, “Well, I don't know if you ever get used to it, buy yeah, we've been shaking every day.”
Rusty Tybo says, “You go a few days without any sizeable tremors, and then all of a sudden you have one of a larger magnitude.”
They'll get one step closer to normalcy this weekend.
The town is holding a wells earthquake recovery rally tomorrow at the wells volunteer fire department.
Hank James says, “Hopefully we can raise some money to help the folks who need it here.
Rusty Tybo says, “Emotionally, it's just tremendous. Financially, it's just really overwhelming because we really haven't got a solid answer from any of the agencies that are supposed to help us.”
Town officials say they aren't optimistic about getting federal relief money, so they're doing it themselves.
Through the event, featuring food, music and auctions, they're hoping to make half a million dollars.
Rusty Tybo says, “Because we can start immediately getting some of these people that have been displaced back on their feet and returning to some sense of normalcy.”
