Kidney Screenings

By S Casey

St. Luke's offered free kidney screenings today as a part of the national kidney foundation's early evaluation program.
Researchers say that thirty million people in the United States are at risk for kidney disease and there is a high risk for Idaho residents as well.
Those who received the screening had diabetes - high blood pressure or one or more of these symptoms run in their family.
Dr. Negraj Narasimham says, "To identify what their risks factors, are, to see if there are preventive measures now so we can take to prevent renal disease down the line."
Danielle Arnold and Cat Ramos are good friends and closer than most as Ramos gave Arnold one of her kidneys.
Danielle Arnold says, "I was having routine screenings done and from that point my kidney disease was progressing and that is where cat came in and found out I was in need of a transplant and was more than willing to donate to me."
