Traveling across the country can take a while by vehicle, but one man and his organization plan to do it by horse.
Phil Dawson says, “We'll pass eleven states on our ride, and we're shooting to get across Kansas before the weather is bad.”
Phil Dawson heads Ride America, a non-profit corporation that is riding horses from Hagerman to Virginia for the next five and a half months.
The group is raising money for children with long-term illnesses.
Dawson says they are planning many fund-raising rallies throughout the trip.
Dawson says, “I think as we pass through communities, and of course, our advertisements will precede us, as we come into an area that people will get generous and give to the cause.”
Dawson says he hopes for quite a contribution.
Dawson says, “We hope to raise, we'd like to see over ten mil. We’d like to see over ten million dollars.”
