A Brief Warm Up Followed By More Cold And Snow

Tools

By Brandon Redmond

The inversion will break over the next day or two and warm air advection from our Southwest will take over causing temperatures to warm above freezing! Yes it will feel like a heat wave!

A weak weather system will bring a few rain and snow showers on Monday Night and Tuesday Morning. At this point I am not expecting anything significant with this first system.

Warm air advection will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday as the jet stream lifts just North of us and some areas could come close to 40 on Wednesday! That's thegood news!

The bad news is that another very strong cold front will bring snow and wind back to Southern Idaho on Thursday. The front will also bring much colder air to Southern Idaho with temperatures back in the teens and lower 20's by next weekend and the single digits (possibly colder) yet again at night.

The overall pattern the second half of January looks very cold with more snow possible across the area as a winter pattern takes hold on much of the Northwestern United States.

I leave for Hawaii this week so I will see you all in a couple of weeks. I'll try to bring back some warm air with me :)
