Spring oficially starts on March 20th at 5:02 a.m. MST. That's less than three weeks away - but hey - who's counting?! If you're like me you're ready for warmer weather. The good news is we'll get some this weekend and it should stick around for awhile.
A warm front will swing through the area tomorrow and that will boost highs into the mid 40s in Twin Falls tomorrow. There is a catch though.. this warm front will make it cloudy and could produce some precip heading into Thursday afternoon and evening:
Our in house futurecaster is showing a slight chance for rain in the valleys and a mix as you get higher in elevation. Overall, I think we stay dry but cloudy in the valleys and any rain or snow we see in the higher terrain would be light.
Now on to the good stuff. Friday and Saturday look great. Wind will be out of the south and that will help usher in mild air. This is what the NAM 4 km is showing for 11 a.m. Friday morning. You can see most of the Magic Valley is colored in the bluish hue which depicts temperatures in the 40s.
Saturday looks even better with some yellow (50s) working into the picture by early afternoon.
Most of Saturday and Sunday look sunny too which is awesome!
Sunday will stay on the mild side but a cold front will swing through. That will put more chances for precipitation in the forecast and it will kick up the wind. This is the GFS model projection for Sunday evening:
The precipitation will stay in the higher terrain of the South Hills, Albion Mountains and Wood River Region. I think a rain & snow mix is possible in those areas. In the valleys we'll see cloudy skies but I think we mostly stay dry again. We'll all get the wind though with NW gusts in the 35-45 mph range.
The cold front will knock temperatures down into the mid 40s for Monday but then we should rebound back into the 50s by Tuesday.
Overall, the weather pattern looks decent through most of next week as well.
