Camas & Elmore County Fires Continue To Grow

Tools

By Brandon Redmond

Fairfield, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The fires in Elmore and Camas County continue to grow today as gusty winds and very dry conditions create challenges for firefighters.

Here is a map showing where the fires are located. The fires North of Mountain Home are being referred to as the Pony Complex Fire. The fires located in Camas County are being called the Beaver Creek Complex Fires.

Both of the fire complexes are so large and have so much energy that they are actually creating their own clouds known as pyrocumulus clouds. This photograph was taken by KMVT photographer Ben Lyda.

Satellite and radar are both picking up the fire. Here's a look at the latest visible satellite map.

We have spoke to officials at the Bureau of Land Management. They are currently being briefed on both fires and new evacuations are possible. We will bring you the latest information as it becomes available.
