If you've seen Rise and Shine during the holiday months you already know I'm a big fan of Christmas. I love the lights, the parties, the gifts, the family gatherings and the mistletoe.. ya baby.. ya.
So after it's all done I suffer from a mild case of the post holiday blues. Needless to say January is not one of my favorites months and this January was particularly tough thanks to Mother Nature!
Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we? Here are the numbers that Joslin-Field Magic Valley Regional Airport recorded for the month.
Let's break it all down. First of all we only saw high temperatures at or above normal on nine days. The average high temperature for the month of Janary is 37.7 degrees. The averge high we saw in Twin Falls was 28.6 degrees - almost ten degrees lower than average.
We saw sub zero low temperatures eight times and a new record low was set on January 2nd at -6.
At least a trace of snow was recorded seventeen of the thirty-one days during the month. The Western Magic Valley also saw four winter weather advisories and one blizzard warning during the month.
The good news? January is over and so far we've gotten off to a calm and mild start here in February. Don't worry.. I just knocked on wood.
Let's hope the groundhog was right and spring DOES come early.
