Rain On The Way To Finish Out The Weekend

By Brandon Redmond

A weather system off to our West will usher in plenty of moisture across most of Southern Idaho. Showers are already developing this afternoon and this evening across much of Southern and Western Idaho. A lot of the rain isn't quite making it to the ground but that will change as we head into the evening and overnight hours.

Rain will be likely tonight and tomorrow across much of Southern Idaho including the Magic Valley. Most of our forecast guidance is indicating we could see at least a quarter of an inch of rain by Sunday Evening with some areas picking up close to a half inch of rain. Futurecaster shows rain developing across the entire area tonight.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Blaine County tonight but the primary concern will be for elevations above 6,500 feet. Hailey, Sun Valley and Ketchum should see primarily rain with snow possibly mixing in by tomorrow afternoon. 1-2" of snow is possible in those areas with 3-6" of snow possible above 6,500 feet including at Galena Summit.

Another concern is the potential for strong winds on Monday. Winds behind the system will be gusty with sustained winds of 20-25 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. We will be watching the wind potential closely in case higher winds do develop.

Have a great weekend everyone - Brandon
