If you haven't noticed it doesn't feel or look very "Christmassy" around the Magic Valley. Temperatures have been several degrees above average and the first 4 days of December have been considerably wet. Over the next two weeks it looks like we will see a major shift in our weather pattern.

Looking at the various computer models and also NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, the next 8 to 14 days are going to be colder than average and also wetter. Even looking at the 30 day outlook for the month of December, above average precipitation with average temperatures are expected for Idaho and the Pacific Northwest.

Keep in mind this is not a specific forecast but a generalization of what we could expect over the next 14 to 30 days. With the pattern looking wetter than average and temperatures near or slightly below average we can infer that there is a good chance we will see some snow across the valleys and mountains before Christmas. There is no guarantee that we will have a white Christmas but the odds are better than average.
