Base Jumpers

Monday, May 25th, turned out to be a beautiful Memorial day in southern Idaho. The sun was shining so my family and I decided to do something fun for the day. We took a quick canoe trip up the Snake River canyon starting just below the Perrine memorial bridge. The bridge is a very popular destination for base jumpers who come from all over the nation to jump because it is one of very few spans where it is legal to jump. While we were paddling back we approached the bride and heard people from the bridge (which is almost 500 feet) yelling out a count down. 10, 9, 8...I fumbled around for our camera and switched it to video and started to shoot just in time to catch ten base jumpers making a simultaneous jump! This rare view from the river was spectacular!
