RUPERT, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Minico welcomed in Blackfoot on Saturday. The Spartans had a rough go against the Broncos in the first meeting, losing by 29.

But that was so 2020 and here we are in a new year. Early first quarter, Spartans down two, take a one point lead on this corner three from freshman Kendalyn Anderson.

Moments later, Broncos in transition, Izzy Arave sneaks in a bounce pass to Esperanza Vergara, visitors back up on that nicely executed play.

Blackfoot in a full court press, Prairie Caldwell, with two Idaho names, unselfishly finds Vergara underneath.

Spartans call a timeout, down six with five minutes to go in the first quarter.

Minico hoping to build some momentum after the short break, nice feed into Allyson Vorwaller and the Spartans are on a 6-2 run.

Minico, a very young team with only four upperclassmen couldn’t keep up in the 60-44 loss.

Carlie Latta paced the Spartans with 13 points. Four Broncos landed in double-figures.

They look to bounce back next Wednesday against Mountain Home.
