Fire at Amalgamated Sugar Factory extinguished, hot spots flaring up
The State Fire Marshal is expected to arrive Monday

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The State Fire Marshal has been called in to help investigate the cause of a fire at a sugar factory building that started Saturday evening.
According to Twin Falls Fire Chief Les Kenworthy, some responders are still on the scene, as hot spots continue to pop up.
The Fire Marshal is expected to arrive at the site of the blaze Monday, in order to begin the investigation into the fire’s cause. Kenworthy said additional federal investigators could also be called in to help.
On Saturday around 7:45 p.m., a fire was reported at the Amalgamated Sugar factory on Eastland and Orchard in Twin Falls. The fire began in the structure where the sugar beet pellets are dried and stored.
After nearly 24 hours, Twin Falls Fire Department extinguished the flames. The department was aided by crews from Jerome City Fire Department, Filer Fire and Rescue, Buhl Fire Department, Rock Creek Fire Protection District, Magic Valley Paramedics, Twin Falls Police Department and Declo Rural Fire Department.
