ISU signees break high school state records
MIDDLETON, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — For those that watched our state coverage on Saturday, might have have seen Brett Bronson’s performance.
The Kimberly senior won four goal medals at the 3A track and field championships, helping his team capture the 3A state championship for the first time since 2009, plus setting a new classification record in the 400 meter dash (48.12).
Bronson first set the state record in Friday’s pre-lims, but during the first 200 meters of the race, the announcer caught on that the Idaho State signee could set the record again and he did.
The record was standing for 12 years, set by Bertrand Alcaraz Garcia of Buhl in 2009.
Speaking of records, Ellie Stockham of Gooding is also going down in the history books.
The ISU signee pole vaulted at a measurement of 11 feet, five inches, edging out the previous state record of 11 feet four inches, a mark that was set by Cheyenne Chapman of Fruitland in 2017.
