Take Me Fishing back for summer 2021
Idaho Fish and Game’s free fishing events help continue Idaho’s fishing traditions
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Tomorrow across Idaho is Free Fishing Day, a chance to get out and experience the fun of fishing without needing a permit.
But there are more ways Idaho Fish and Game offers free opportunities to fish with their Take Me Fishing events. This year the events are being offered during the evening, as well, as a way to help working families have a chance to make it to the events.
Each Wednesday, and most Saturdays, between now and the end of July, Fish and Game will travel to different lakes and reservoirs where they will provide rods, bait, lessons and even stock Rainbow Trout as a way to remove any burdens that can discourage some from enjoying the sport.
“You just need enthusiasm and a desire to get out and do some fishing. We’ll even show you how to cast, how to bait your hook,” said Terry Thompson with Idaho Fish and Game. “Like I say, our goal is to introduce people to the fun and enjoyment of fishing and also, take them home and put them on the dinner table.”
Fish and Game sees these events as a way to assure the hunting and fishing traditions of the state never fade.
Dates and locations of the events are available on Idaho Fish and Game’s website. If you are an experienced fisher and want to get involved, Fish and Game is looking for volunteers for all the events.
