Appliance shortage impacting the Magic Valley
Twin Falls-based Express Appliance said they have seen an increased demand for appliances
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — If you are looking to upgrade your freezer or washing machine, finding a new appliance may be more difficult than usual due to a nationwide appliance shortage.
Twin Falls-based Express Appliance said they have seen an increased demand for appliances. They indicated warehouses — especially those who closed during the pandemic — are really backed up, which impacted the supply not only of appliances but their individual parts, as well.
Freezers have been in the highest demand followed by refrigerators, washers, and driers.
“People have ordered fridges and whatnot from box stores that might not show up for months at a time,” said Express Appliance Manager Paige Morgan. “Laundry mats, you can go to a laundry mat. You can cook with an Insta-Pot, but you kind of need a fridge.”
One exception to the appliance shortage have been ranges, both coil burner and glass-top.
If you’re struggling to find appliances, Morgan suggests looking at outlet stores that may have larger inventories due to their willingness to sell refurbished, scratched or dented appliances.
