Downtown Twin Falls apartment building to be ready late this summer, project officials say

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The construction of the new building in downtown Twin Falls is a Galena Opportunity Fund project. It will have 44 residential units for rent as well as 14,000 square feet of commercial space.

“When we are seeing buildings like this go up, it’s so exciting for us as a community, us as a Chamber of Commerce, because we’re doing something right in Twin Falls,” said JJ Shawver with the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce.

Brass Monkey owner Kindsey Taylor loves the small-town feel of Twin Falls but also understands expansion is a part of the growth Southern Idaho is feeling.

“The biggest missing key to downtown since we’ve started renovating is residential,” she said. “If you make an area somebody’s neighborhood, they take care of it a little bit more and it builds a community.”

In an email to KMVT, Galena said the building is supposed to be finished by July, but it’s looking more like September.

They have not tried to lease any residential or retail space, but office space is fully leased.

“Our downtown is still out of the way for most of the Twin Falls population,” Taylor said. “It’s not a habit place yet, but if you have multiple things to do, places to shop, places to eat, you’re going to have more people come down here and come down here consistently.”

Taylor did mention downtown parking issues, and as KMVT has reported in the past, there are plans for a parking garage as well as two other buildings downtown.

But for now, just the new building will surely give out a new vibe.

“It will be something that Twin Falls has not yet experienced, but a very exciting thing,” said Shawver.

20% of residential units are income adjusted, 80% will be market value, Galena tells KMVT.
