Carol grew up in Shoshone, Idaho. Her father worked on the railroad and her mother was a homemaker. She had two sisters - Pat and Jo, and two brothers - Jim and John. She was blessed with a large extended family and enjoyed the love and friendship of her many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carol developed a good work ethic at an early age. When she was nine, she began working at the local veterinarian’s office cleaning animal cages. As she grew older, she thankfully passed this job to her siblings and began working at the Manhattan Café as a waitress. The latter years of her life she worked at the Bureau of Land Management in various positions.
She graduated from Shoshone High School in 1959 and soon married Jim Tate. The marriage produced two children, a son - James Michael (Mike) in 1960 followed by their daughter - Joanne Michelle (Shelley) in 1963. After her divorce, she married Robert Dale “Bob” Lewin in 1965 and had a daughter - Sandra Christine “Sandy” in 1966.
Carol was involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and spent many summers fundraising for the foundation by hosting a local bike-a-thon. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and enjoyed the fellowship and community of her fellow parishioners. She was a kind person whose kitchen was always open to friends and family. She celebrated the birth of her two grandchildren - Isaac and Kaitlin whom she adored. She enjoyed antiquing, working in her flower garden and entertaining her grandchildren.
Carol’s family would like to issue a heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who helped support her over the years.
Carol is survived by: her children - Shelley (John) Cumbridge, Sandy (Craig) Brown; and her grandchildren - Isaac (Kennedy) Brown and Kaitlin (Austin) Brown; her brothers and sister - James (Jan) Haran, John (Ann) Haran and Mary Jo Nelson; and nephews and nieces.
