Free winter driving safety classes offered in the Magic Valley

Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police are offering free winter driving safety classes in the Magic Valley for everyone.
The first scheduled class is on Nov. 2 at the Jerome Idaho State Police building at 218 W. Yakima Ave. The classes are open to everyone but are particularly valuable for new drivers, young drivers with limited winter driving experience and new residents facing their first Idaho winter.
“South Central Idaho winters can be challenging, but preparation makes all the difference,” said Engineer Manager Travis Hitchcock. “These classes are a great way for drivers, especially teens and new residents, to build safe driving habits before winter conditions hit.”
The annual classes have become a tradition, giving drivers knowledge to handle icy roads and unpredictable weather. State troopers and ITD operators cover everything from vehicle preparation and proper equipment to crash response, road conditions and snowplow safety.
Those interested can still sign up for the class. Drivers can check the ITD website for a full list of classes with registration links and check back for added classes.
